Bettas (like most fish) do well with a varied diet. The following is a list of foods that are good for your betta and many are available at your local pet store. Live or frozen will have more nutrition but a betta can do fine with the freeze dried as well.

Included are also foods that are good not only for your bettas, but their tank mates as well.

Freeze Dried Food:

  blood worms
  betta bits (pellets)
  flake food
  brine shrimp
  black worms

Frozen or live Food:

    Blood Worms
  Brine Shrimp
  Daphnia
  Cyclops
  Water Fleas
  Daphnia
  Black Worms
  Gl Worms

Generally live Food:

  Mosquito Larvae
  water fleas
  white worms
  grindal worms
springtails

Note; peas, these are great to give your betta once a week or so on fast days. They're also used to help with constipation and bloating issues.

Veggies and Fruit for betta tank mates:

  zuchinni
  cucumber
  carrot
  broccoli
  cauliflower
  egg plant
  peas
  apple
  melon
  mango
  and more...

Note: Citrus fruit such as lemon, grapefruit, orange and lime is not good for fish.

Freeze dried foods good for tank mates:

    flake food
    algae wafers
  veggie wafers
  sinking pellets
  shrimp pellets (also sinking)

Micro Worms

This is a quick video of my Micro Worm culture. The media they are growing in is moistened oatmeal and yeast.
They are hard to see on the media itself, but the camera does a great job at capturing them.
To harvest them and feed to my fish, I used a q-tip end that I removed all of the cotton from.
Then I swipe that end along the sides of the container where the worms are climbing.
Then I just swish that through the water. I can absolutely see why these are great for fry since they are absolutely tiny!
